Ok, so the new year, and new decade is upon us.  Usually January is my time to reflect upon the last year and work on goals for the new one.  Actually, the first couple days of January is the time I do this, but this year, with so many changes that have happened in the last 10, I have decided to take the full month to reflect upon my past goals and accomplishments as well as set new goals and habits for myself.

In the last 10 years, I have:
1. Sent an abusive husband to jail
2. Fought for the custody of all of my children, winning back 3 of them, and letting the 4th one go his way, temporarily.
3. Had Gastric Bypass surgery and lost 180 lbs.
4. Became completely independent of any one for emotional, financial or physical help.
5. Learned how to swallow my pride and know when to ask for help when I am not able to do for myself.
6. Entered back into the "working world" at the bottom of the ladder, just over minimum wage and climbed, steadily to a comfortable (even in San Diego, CA) wage.
7. Moved back to Kansas and faced my greatest fears and enemies.
8. "Came out of the closets" and learned to stand up proudly for my beliefs, even when they weren't accepted by the "crowd".
9. Learned to accept defeat graciously, and climb my way out of the rubble.
10. Found out who I truly am, accepted myself, and learned to love myself for who I am and who I want to be.

I'm sure that I have missed some, but those are the highlights.  I have loved, lost, and learned that the only person that I can change is myself.

So, without further ado, here is what I have set forth for myself for the next year.  You won't see the usual lose 10 pounds, quit smoking, etc that you see on most people's resolution list.  These are honest, attainable and just for me.

1. Begin exercising again.  Minimum workout per week: 20 minutes.  Ideal workout: 20 min per day.  Of course, my lazy butt will be beginning this one tonight, with the support (and insistence) of ~TheDarkness1973
2. Write on a regular basis.  Minimum goal: 20 min a week.  Ideal: 1 hour a day.
3. Get boxes gone through and house organized. Don't have to go through everything with a fine tooth comb, but must have the house ready to pack to move by end of May.
4. Keep goals in sight and monitor milestone accomplishments to be able to review when not feeling positive about life. Write list down and post in plain sight.
5. Keep up on each child's activities, school, home responsibilities and needs. Keep all therapy appointments as possible, keep in touch with teachers, and spend 30 minutes of one on one time with each child a week.  I know that doesn't sound like much, but it is a start and certainly has an affect on their attitudes.
6. Keep in touch with the world outside my house and maintain or improve relationships with others. Daily show affection for my partner, weekly have us time, at least monthly set a "date" night.  Weekly call or stop by my grandparents, monthly contact aunts, cousins and sister-in-law. Check on friends both local and away more than once a quarter (or year as it stands with some friends.  :( )
7. Get a better handle on finances.  Find a budgeting class or set up a budget that is realistic and helps to catch up on past bills as well as place some monies into savings.
8. Fill out paperwork that will ease financial burdens.
9. Get doctor's appointments for myself and children for checkups and issues that cause worry.
10. Have fun.  Once a week would be ideal, once a month is necessity.

Whew!  I'm spent.  Of course, I was just reminded (and soon will be physically removed from computer) that I have yoga to do.  Sigh.  What a bully.  ;)
